Niraxx, a neurotech innovation company

Empowering individuals to take charge of their brain health for life.

Our Story

As a mental health clinician, I have seen firsthand the inadequacy for current treatment options to serve every patient. While medications are the first-line treatment for depression, there is a huge unmet need to go beyond the one-size-fits-all approach. Since 2009, I have led multiple translational studies focused on treating patients with near-infrared light for mood and anxiety disorders. It’s tremendous that we can now make this effective, safe therapy available for anyone.

Dr. Paolo Cassano, MD, PhD

Co-Founder & Chair of SBA

Brain health is a huge 21st century public health challenge. And I believe that any effective, meaningful solution must start by making care accessible. We have successfully translated our wearable from device form factor to clothing form factor, that is only the beginning. Now, we look to further advance our digital health solution to make our personalized wearable digital therapeutics vision a reality.

Joshua Chen

CEO & Co-Founder

Niraxx was founded in Nov. 2016 BY Co-founders JOSHUA Chen and Dr. Paolo cassano.

We aim to create a new category of wearable digital therapeutics for brain health and related disorders. We have made the conscious decision to integrate Light Therapy into Clothing because we believe that the form factor—which is universal and versatile—offers an unprecedented opportunity to transform the embodied care delivery experience.

Niraxx Launched its first product and app in 2020.

It’s time to evolve beyond the one-size-fits-all approach addressing brain health. We have spent the last three years translating Photobiomodulation, the latest neuromodulation technology, from bulky device form to comfortable, portable e-textile form suitable for everyday wear. The Bluetooth-controlled device enables individuals to take control of their brain health effortlessly at their fingertips. Anytime, Any-Wear.

future: AI-based, Personalized predictive clothing form systems.

We have only just started our work. In the future, we envision a system that will provide brain state monitoring, live feedback reporting and real-time light dosage adjustment. We continue to work with top researchers and data scientists to develop our clinical pipeline and strengthen our algorithms. We also plan to scale our fashion partnerships to develop stylish wellness wear.
